Abstract

Part 1.1. Introduction to Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, with focus on SDG 7

By the end of Part 1 of Module 1, participants will learn about the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (the 2030 Agenda), the Millennium Development Goals (MDG), 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under the 2030 Agenda, the framework for tracking progress of the 2030 Agenda, rationale for ‘SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy’ and SDG 7’s targets and indicators, as well as its global progress.

Part 1.2. Definition, key aspects and importance of SDG 7 localisation

By the end of Part 2 of Module 1, participants will learn about localisation of SDGs in particular SDG 7, definition of localisation in the context of SDGs, key aspects of localisation and the importance of localisation in particular with relevance to SDG 7.

Part 1.3. Challenges and barriers to SDG localisation

By the end of Part 3 of Module 1, participants will learn about current snapshot of progress on SDGs, understand the challenges and barriers, with focus on the specific challenges and barriers to the localisation of SDG 7.

Part 1.4. Success factors of SDG and SDG 7 localisation

By the end of Part 4 of Module 1, participants will learn about enablers for successful SDGs localisation, SDG mainstreaming and capacity building for effective SDG and SDG 7 localisation.

Part 1.5. Examples of best practices in localisation of SDGs

By the end of Part 5 of Module 1, participants will learn about examples of best practices in localisation of SDGs and their applicability at the city level, including Voluntary Local Reviews (VLRs) to report interventions and actions on SDGs.
