Overview

Water is a cross-sector focus in addressing the challenges of the region as it underpins all socio-economic activities. The ESCAP secretariat promotes cooperation on management of international river basins in Asia. The ESCAP secretariat also promotes concepts of the water and green growth, through management of visible and invisible water infrastructure, decentralised wastewater management systems. A number of practical solutions for integration and cooperation have been operationalized in the region such as in eco-efficient water infrastructure, and building capacities in the various sub-sectors at the regional level.
