The positive trends from a systems thinking perspective are the increased awareness with respect to the interlinkages between SDG 6 and other SDGs and the need for policy coherence and institutional cooperation, sometimes with other or across sectors, such as in Tajistan, where linkages between SDG 6 and SDG 5 came to the fore. A negative trend was the continued use of freshwater for agricultural purposes, while basic sanitation was still a major problem for poor households.
